FOSTER ADVANCED MATERIALS GROUP
Polymers, nanocomposites, processing, sustainability, bio-products and materials.
Professor Foster’s Advanced Materials Group focuses on advanced functional and supramolecular bio(nano)materials: Design, synthesis and engineering of bio-inspired, bio-sourced functional polymers, supramolecular materials, and nanocomposites; stimuli-responsive materials; biomedical materials; lightweight materials; 3D printing and various responsive “smart-polymers/materials” applications.

COVID-19 | How we are helping
The shortage of single-use masks worldwide has crippled the medical industry and led to an excess of waste worldwide. In collaboration with Canfor and Orlando Rojas’ lab, we have developed a mask that can be sourced and made in Canada, and is biodegradable.
